Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Coordinator II for the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center, a unit of the Bloustein School of Public Planning and Policy.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assists in the conduct of research, including but not limited to literature reviews, leading practice scans, case studies, planning and administration of focus groups and surveys, and primary and secondary analysis data.
  • Assists with the preparation of project reports, memoranda, and other work products.
  • Arranges and coordinates logistics and assists with content related to project-related events and meetings.
  • Work is performed under the direct supervision of one or more principal investigators and/or project managers, with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work activities. Work is usually reviewed upon completion.
  • Performs professional work that meets high quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a related field, plus a minimum of two years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of project coordination, organization, facilitation, report preparation and analysis, writing, and outreach.
  • Master’s degree in city and regional planning or related field preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge specifically related to transportation policy and planning generally, as well as subject matter expertise in the concentrations of bicycle and pedestrian planning, metropolitan and regional planning, public and stakeholder engagement, and/or transit/paratransit planning and operations, also desired.
  • The person filling this position must be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in GIS, web publishing, statistical analysis software (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, etc.), Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver) is strongly desired.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work activities will be performed primarily at a seated workstation in an office setting.
  • Some observational fieldwork and data collection are also required.
  • Fieldwork requires mostly in-state travel and outdoor walking and/or bicycling in urban, suburban, and occasionally rural settings in New Jersey.
