VTC announced that Robert Skinner, Jr., will serve as the Chair of the VTC Advisory Board. He replaces Mortimer Downey, III, who is stepping down, having led the board successfully for many years.
“We are thrilled Bob will serve as the VTC Advisory Board Chair and look forward to the board’s anticipated growth with his expertise, leadership, and commitment to the transportation community,” said Robert Noland, VTC Director. “I also want to take this opportunity to thank Mort Downey for his significant contribution to the Voorhees Transportation Center and his years of service on behalf of the board. We are delighted Mort will continue to work with the board as we move forward.”
Robert Skinner, Jr., joins the VTC Advisory Board after serving as the Executive Director of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies for 20 years. Prior to becoming the TRB executive director, he directed TRB’s transportation policy study activities.
Before joining TRB in 1983, Mr. Skinner was a Vice President of Alan M. Voorhees and Associates where he managed the former consulting firm’s activities in the eastern United States. During his career, Mr. Skinner has served on a number of advisory committees for university transportation research organizations, as well as special committees convened in the aftermath of major transportation accidents. Mr. Skinner is a registered professional engineer. Welcome, Bob!
