NJ TRANSIT is seeking to understand how investments in passenger facilities can improve neighborhood food access and essential transportation services while ethically addressing the needs of the unhoused population that rely on NJT facilities for shelter. Addressing the needs of sensitive communities adds an additional challenging dimension to improving transit facilities since construction projects are disruptive to everyone, including unhoused individuals who rely on transit facilities for shelter and other amenities. NJ TRANSIT is also seeking to identify best practices during construction as well as improving the passenger experiences while contributing to solutions for the unhoused.
