Name: Jeffrey Dennis
Title: Travel Instructor
Jeffrey Dennis has been a Travel Instructor with NJTIP since July 2015. His primary responsibilities include teaching individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, and others how to safely and independently utilize public transit. Mr. Dennis creates individualized travel curriculums for his customers to meet their independent travel goals and assists with creating and editing customer video testimonials to help further the NJTIP mission.
Mr. Dennis has also been the lead instructor and curriculum designer for a grant-based travel training program with Camden County Educational Services Commission. He has instructed the Special Education students from Camden on how to use local public transportation to navigate their way to local employment opportunities as well as social and educational destinations.
In response to COVID-19-related travel restrictions, Mr. Dennis has been the lead designer for virtual travel training and virtual field trips. These virtual tools have provided the necessary continuity for NJTIP’s customers and small group travel instruction. As a testament to the success of NJTIP’s virtual training, Mr. Dennis has presented at a national conference for the Association of Travel Instruction on his virtual curriculum design and virtual field trips.
Mr. Dennis received a B.A. from Rutgers University in 2008 in Psychology with a focus on Child & Adolescent Development. He worked for the Douglass Developmental Disability Center from 2008-2015 serving the needs of young adult students with autism spectrum disorders.
