Rebecca Levitsky is the 2025 recipient of the Mortensen-Voorhees Award for Achievement in Transportation Studies. This award is granted annually to the highest-achieving student with a concentration in transportation at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Urban Planning and Policy. Named after Alan M. Voorhees, a renowned transportation engineer and urban planner, and Robert E. Mortensen, a transportation planner and former CEO of two major railroads, the award honors their significant contributions to the field.
Rebecca completed her MCRP with a concentration in transportation, focusing on bicycle and pedestrian safety, multimodal connectivity, and transit priority. While at the Bloustein School, she served as a graduate research assistant at the Voorhees Transportation Center, where she co-authored a report on trail funding programs in New Jersey and conducted research on Complete Streets policies. She also interned with SEPTA’s planning department in the summer of 2024, supporting their transit-oriented development team. After graduation, she is excited to join the City of Philadelphia as a Transit Project Coordinator, where she will focus on advancing safe access to transit through integrated pedestrian and bicycle improvements.
