NJ Crossing Guard Training and Resource Program

Principal Investigator: Sean Meehan

Rutgers University’s Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) initiated the NJ Crossing Guard Training and Resources Program in 2013 with the aim to mitigate injuries and fatalities experienced by crossing guards while on duty. The program offers both online trainings to crossing guard supervisors as well as direct in-person trainings to municipalities’ crossing guards. Since the start of the Crossing Guard Training and Resources Program pilot in 2013, we have held 37 trainings with a total of nearly 1,400 participants.
