Online since 2005, NJTOD keeps planners, developers, officials, and the public up-to-date on how to create vibrant neighborhoods around transit facilities. This partnership between the Transit Friendly Planning (TFP) program at NJ TRANSIT and the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University enriches the conversation in our diverse communities by highlighting what is happening in New Jersey, nationally, and abroad: best practices, model programs, legislation, and local problem-solving experiences.
What is Transit Friendly Planning?
A planning concept that creates an environment around transit facilities, such as bus stops, bus terminals, and rail or light rail stations, that supports and encourages transit use. These environments are achieved by proactively planning for development and circulation patterns that support safe, clean, and active places that are accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
