Technology Transfer & Implementation Program 2021-2026, Year 5

Principal Investigator: Stephanie DiPetrillo

The NJDOT Technology Transfer (T2) Program (2021-2026) focuses on increasing awareness of transportation-related issues in New Jersey, fostering idea exchange, translating state-of-the-art trends and practices, showcasing innovation, and disseminating research in an actionable format. The program promotes innovation adoption through knowledge transfer, training, demonstrations, communications, marketing, and technical assistance.

A collaborative effort between the NJDOT Bureau of Research, Innovation, and Information Transfer (BRIIT) and Rutgers-VTC, the T2 Program identifies technology transfer needs, conducts outreach and engagement, and prioritizes activities that advance innovation deployment.

Key research and implementation activities include:

  • Identifying and addressing NJDOT technology transfer and knowledge capture needs.
  • Developing training programs, events, and peer exchanges to close knowledge gaps.
  • Maintaining the NJDOT Technology Transfer website.
  • Supporting NJDOT Bureau of Research staff in national and state-level research efforts.
  • Providing tools for soliciting research and innovation ideas for the NJ State Transportation Innovation Council.
  • Preparing an annual Implementation Status Report.
  • Managing the NJDOT Research Library, including on-site staffing and space management.
